M-MENTOR: A Design Algorithm for IP Networks with Mixed Traffic

چکیده
The design of IP networks to support traffic engineering for both unicast and multicast traffic is a very difficult problem. This paper proposes a heuristic design algorithm called M-MENTOR that concern routing of both types of traffic. However, since multicast traffic model could be employed in many situations and could be managed by various kinds of multicast routing protocols, this paper consider only the design process of the IP networks with following features: (1) network of within the same Autonomous System (AS), (2) routing protocol support multiple weight on each link, (3) the multicast traffic from different sources share the same multicast tree. The efficiency of M-MENTOR is evaluated for various traffic demands and networks of 10, 30 and 50 node and compared with MENTOR-II. The experimental results show that, in almost all cases, M-MENTOR give better performance in term of installation cost. Enhanced MENTOR Algorithm with ECMP Routing Enable
MENTOR (Mesh Network Topological Optimization and Routing) is an efficient heuristic design algorithm network that assigns traffic flow while selecting links to be installed. MENTOR is suitable to design networks categorized as virtual circuit packet switching such as Frame Relay, ATM and MPLS networks. However, MENTOR cannot be directly applied to datagram packet switching networks such as pur...

A Mesh Network Topological Optimization and Routing II (MENTOR-II) algorithm is a low complexity and efficient network design algorithm for IP networks with OSPF routing protocol in which appropriate link weights are assigned to the installed links such that the traffic always routes on the path with minimum distance. However, it should be noted that the flow delay of traffic assigned by MENTOR...

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...

Due to the resource constraint and dynamic parameters, reducing energy consumption became the most important issues of wireless sensor networks topology design. All proposed hierarchy methods cluster a WSN in different cluster layers in one step of evolutionary algorithm usage with complicated parameters which may lead to reducing efficiency and performance. In fact, in WSNs topology, increasin...
